The Child Care and Early Learning Action Hub brings together four national organizations – American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Center for Community Change (CCC), Center for Popular Democracy (CPD), and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) – and state grassroots groups to win policy changes that expand affordable, quality child care and preschool education.
We are parents, providers, educators, and the community united to run local and state campaigns to win concrete and immediate improvements, and to escalate demand for federal action to guarantee that affordable, high-quality child care and pre-K are available to all families when and where they need it, and that educators and providers of all types are paid what they are worth and can form a union to have a voice over the work they do.
We believe that ensuring every family’s access to affordable, high-quality child care and early learning is a critical step toward raising the incomes of millions of low and moderate income families, achieving racial justice and gender equality, and creating equal social and economic opportunities for all of America’s children.
We see this issue as part of a larger agenda to help all families achieve economic security. In addition to high-quality child care and universal pre-K, working families also need fair work schedules, good jobs, paid family and medical leave, and paid sick days to balance the demands of raising a family and earning a decent living.
